Seriously people what did Stephen Harper do to deserve this accolade.
I know this may come as a surprise to my readers but, I don't trust Harper as far as I can throw up on him. Everything he does is intended to promote himself. Even his lap dog John Baird is out there promoting on behalf of Stephen Harper.
Really Canada, what was the one significant accomplishment that granted him this reward?
The way I see it, and this is based on what has occurred in the past year, Stephen Harper spoke out in support of Israel which was something he had never done before, at least openly. He established the "Office of Religious Freedom", then he denounced Iran. There is a pattern here folks.
I have a suspicion, and yes I am suspicious of Stephen Harper since everything he does benefits him and not the people of Canada. He closed the embassy in Iran because he put a target on Canadians backs and now he closed the embassy in Cairo for the same reasons.
The award came from a New York based group who by the way declared Jean Chretien "Statesman of the Year" this, in itself, should tell you how much merit this award holds around the world .... it is like winning the "World Series" when you don't engage the World.
UHhh .. excuse me Canada but do we see a relationship here.....
The award is given out annually by the Appeal of Conscience Foundation, founded by Rabbi Arthur Schneier in 1965.
"This interfaith coalition of business and religious leaders promotes peace, tolerance and ethnic conflict resolution," notes the organization's website.
The "Tell all End all" to this award is that Harper will snub the UN while obtaining his unwarranted award.

One of the reasons given for his receiving the award is the establishment of the "Office of Religious Freedom" ... this is a department with a 20,000,000 million dollar budget that has done nothing yet. It begs the question.... "was this the price Canadians had to pay for Stephen Harper to receive his award" .... I say yes
