Beware of groups like Ontario Proud, Alberta Proud or Canada Proud

They prey on peoples emotions and feed them misinformation through such groups as Ontario Proud, Alberta Proud and now Canada Proud. For years now they have been pumping out false information through meme's on social media sadly there are those who want to believe the lies and misinformation even when they know it is wrong they repost because it follows their POV. They are creating a society of lambs.

We, here in Ontario, are witnessing one of the worst attacks on the defenseless, those that are dependent on social programs, the education system and medicare. All of this has been brought to us as a result of Ontario Prouds lies and misinformation. They are a sick group of conservative vultures preying on the bones of the less fortunate in society.

These are cowardly acts intended to feed the wealthy, the growing number of conservative oligarchs who wish to control the masses by pitting worker against worker.

As a result of their attacks on immigrants, welfare recipients, the medicare system we have seen an unprecedented rise in hate groups such as the KKK, Sons of Odin etc.

Threats against politicians are on the rise through social media.

There is only one political party that one can point a finger at for this rise and that is the CONSERVATIVE PARTY of CANADA.

It is the undeniable truth.

Short read but important

Putting it all together: a thread.
There are restrictions on political donations now, but large corporations have found a workaround: funding misinformation campaigns on social media, such as Ontario Proud or Canada Proud

Treasury will again borrow $1 trillion to pay for tax cuts, spending

For the second straight year, the Treasury Department will have to borrow $1 trillion to pay for the government's growing budget deficit, a consequence of juiced government spending and smaller revenues as a result of the late 2017 tax cuts, Bloomberg reports.
The big picture: Treasury borrowing surpassed $1 trillion during President Obama's first term as government spending soared amid the stimulus to combat the 2008 financial crisis, but it has steadily declined in the years since, settling down to $519 billion in 2017 before nearly doubling last year.

Fess up Andrew Scheer you back stabbing garbage

Andrew Scheer must have prayed nobody found out about his secret meeting with those Big Oil bosses. Or who was there. But they did, and now he must explain why one of the speakers was a guy who worked for Trump AND the Koch brothers.

Monday's Ride - SP 4449 westbound thru Montana

Article is from 9 years ago but more relevant in this election year

This was happening while we weren’t paying attention - Harper aided and abetted by Scheer and Kenney and Ford (although Ford aids them but because of his personal political self-interest, not his zealous Christianity). This is their hidden agenda for Canada: a religious extremist political co-opting of the Conservative party in Canada.
This is the very ugly, very frightening face of THEOCRATIC RULE.
We must do everything in our power as voters to make sure Scheer doesn’t become PM! - Paula Stein
I find it very interesting that the reviewer is trying to refute the author's conclusions. I am going to read this book.
" McDonald sees Christian nationalist conspiracy everywhere she looks. Yet much of what she describes sounds merely like politics as usual, which perhaps makes it no less disturbing to some."
What has become normalised is very disturbing. Andrew Scheer wants to be PM. Among other promises, he says he will defund universities that don't maintain freedom of speech. Well, that sounds alright... except, the speech he wants to be free is spoken by people like Ann Coulter, Steve Bannon, Faith Goldy,.. He wants to ensure that universities cannot stop such speakers from appearing on campus. And to do so, he threatens to defund research programs that advance medicine, engineering and science. That is not just holding universities hostage, forcing them to accept inhumane, irrational notions as equally valid. No, this is holding our society hostage. Do we want cancer treatments to improve? Do we want spinal injury treatments to progress? MS therapies? Alzheimer's research? Do we want Canadians to make important advancements in engineering and science? If we do, Scheer says we have to accept what his pals say, and act like it's perfectly normal.
I wonder, will he also force students to go and listen to these people? In large part, when these speakers' engagements have been cancelled, it is the institution's response to protests and petitions from students who do not want to see these people's views validated by appearing at their university. There would be some schadenfreude in having these speakers stand up in empty theatres.
As can be seen in the article appearing in the comments, it is progressive speech that is being stifled in academia in the US. And that may well be the case in Canada as well. This sort of thing is becoming "normal". We can't close our eyes to some really terribly awful ideas that are beginning to be considered a valid opinion.
It's insidious, this skewing of our society away from facts to magical thinking.

Review: The Armageddon Factor, by Marci McDonald

Many Canadians watching the pastor-politicians and "culture wars" south of the border think, with a sigh of relief: It could never happen here. Marci McDonald is out to prove them wrong.
The Armageddon Factor is an account of Canada's homegrown "Christian nationalism," meant to startle secular citizens into vigilance. She argues that Stephen Harper has opened the way for conservative evangelicals to play an unprecedented role in Ottawa, but these "Christian nationalists" are not content with his dutiful pronouncements of "God bless Canada."
Driven by a theocratic vision of government and an apocalyptic mania, they will, she is certain, stop at nothing short of a "Christian nation [in which]non-believers … have no place, and those in violation of biblical law, notably homosexuals and adulterers, would merit severe punishment and the sort of shunning that once characterized a society where suspected witches were burned."

From Michael Harris

CPC = Cheating Party of Canada

Andrew Scheer has begun his stint as Conservative leader with a Howdy-Doody smile — and an epical face-plant.
Despite serious questions being raised about whether the vote that put him in Stornaway was rigged, the 38-year-old political lifer maintains it’s a party matter.
The logic behind that posture is seriously skewed. It goes something like this: since the CPC ran the convention, and the CPC has publicly stood behind the result, it’s none of his business to comment on the possibility that his victory may not only be tainted, but invalid.  Pontius Pilate couldn’t have said it better.
Sadly for Scheer, nothing could be further from the truth. One of the reasons that Stephen Harper’s regime was turfed in 2015 was that the Canadians had had enough lies, corruption, and ideology imported from the U.S. Republican Party to last them a lifetime. Who will be more deeply forgotten in a few years than politicians like Kellie Leitch and Chris Alexander, and all that they say they stand for?
Scheer has seemingly missed the obvious. The most important thing for any new leader is to announce through his actions, not merely his words, that a fresh start is underway.
Paul Martin knew that when he called a public inquiry into the ad sponsorship scandal upon replacing Jean Chrétien as Liberal leader. Yes, it killed his prime ministership.  But it also made party renewal — and a candidate like Justin Trudeau — possible. It did that by publicly bringing closure to the Liberals’ terrible abuses of power. Had Martin hidden, instead of faced those problems, the Grits would probably still be sitting on the other side of the House of Commons wondering if they would ever have chauffeurs again.
In Scheer’s case, showing that he represents a fresh start is already difficult. From a policy point of view, he presents as a social conservative. He will have nothing new to offer Canadians other than the Harper agenda delivered with a smile — tax cuts, a balanced budget within two years of his election, (hold the laughter), bombers back to Iraq and Syria, smaller government, and a Leave-it-to-Beaver vision of the world.
It should be noted, in fairness, that Scheer has proposed putting flags of origin on gas pumps. His supporters can only hope he will soon begin speaking in his Big Boy voice.
So let it be said: being a Harper acolyte will surely not help Scheer create the sense of a new policy beginning for a hopelessly out of touch party.  But not caring enough about whether the recent convention was on the up and up could kill him.

Who funds Ontario Proud?

I wanted to do a full picture of who is funding this shadowy online group, but as the best laid plans never work out, here’s what you get: a twenty minute summary.
First, you need to read this first: who they are, what are their tactics, etc.
Everything here is from these filings, made public by Canadaland. You’ll notice that I didn’t look at the individual donors. That is perhaps the next step.
We know that Ontario Proud is funded mostly by developers, but what’s fascinating is how clustered their donors are. Here’s the list sorted in alphabetical order.

A little known story of Newfoundland

The Great Tsunami of 1929

Tsunamis are such uncommon events on the East Coast that the term itself is rarely used. Yet on November 18, 1929, the unthinkable occurred. A largescale earthquake rocked the eastern coast of North America at 5:00 p.m. In St. John’s, Newfoundland, although no serious damage was sustained, the quake shook buildings, broke dishes, and upset furniture. Most people did not know what and earthquake was and thought it was an explosion.

Section 13 of the Canadian Human Rights Act

Canadian Human Rights
The Harper government rolled back longstanding human rights protections in Canada by repealing section 13 of the Canadian Human Rights Act (CHRA). ... Despite the clear guidance from the Supreme Court, the federal government went ahead and repealed section 13 anyway.
Section 13 of the Canadian Human Rights Act slipped quietly beneath the waves during a night-time sitting of the House of Commons. Brian Storseth, Conservative MP for Westlock-St. Paul, was the author of the bill to repeal Section 13.
Justice Minister Rob Nicholson and Prime Minister Stephen Harper had voiced support for the legislation. The result, then, was never in doubt: at 9:35 p.m. on June 6, by a vote of 153-136, Parliament got Canada’s human rights bureaucrats out of the business of policing speech on the Internet.
“It leaves a huge gap,”says Darren Lund, a University of Calgary professor and human rights activist. “There are so many hate sites right now on the Internet, and I think some reasonable monitoring of the hatred they’re spewing fits with the Canadian ethos of living harmoniously in a democracy.”
Thirteen years later, we have the destructive energy of hate and fear overwhelming our country. Healthy citizen’s had no idea that our fellow citizens were being mentally conditioned in the same manner that the KKK conditions their members. Had no idea that material’s that ISIS uses to condition an individual to the point that they would volunteer to commit mass murder and suicide, were being used to make our fellow citizen’s just as ill.
The reason that healthy citizen’s were unaware of this is because they don’t ruin or waste their own lives by indulging the ill intentions of others who wish to infect us. As a Canadian I believed that every Canadian was just as strong and as intelligent as myself. That no Canadian could be mind controlled. How wrong I was.
Every individual that chooses to run a hate site, is an ill individual in one way or another. A psycho who wishes to destroy lives, a dictator that wants control of people, a self-serving individual who just wants to make riches regardless of who he/she is infecting. The politician that has no intention of serving their country or it’s citizens in the positive, who only has the intention of joining the 1% of wealthy people. These are people who only care about one thing: themselves. That’s it. They don’t love their spouse or children, because that individual is making their spouse and children just as ill. Ruining their lives right in the safety of their own home.
Take Ezra Levant for example...where is he when one of the people he’s infected commits a crime and ends up in prison, or dead? Does he mourn the criminal he made? Does he send flowers to the dead criminal’s funeral? Visits them in prison? Does Steve Bannon? Marshall Hamish? Andrew Scheer? Candice Bergen? Pierre Poilievre? Michelle Rempel? Maxime Bernier? Jason Kenney? Doug Ford?
Stephen Harper is now a rich man. He travels to visit multi-billionaires, and men of power (dictators). Stephen Harper made you ill, while you made him rich. Andrew Scheer is rich as well, thanks to us. Take a look at his face book page...it really should be closed as a “hate and fear” site. Pierre Poilievre is a rich man who truly isn’t in government to serve his country or it’s people. Jason Kenney is rich as well, and he too will be a disservice to our country. How about Doug Ford...why does he want to destroy Ontario, when he and his family live in Ontario?
The reason I’m addressing this today, is because I was on a Regina, Saskatchewan community page the other day, and the incredible illness on that page screams for intervention. Comments such as, “Canada shouldn’t allow those of barbaric cultures into our country”. Anyone who gets to live in Canada has to embrace and live by Canada’s laws, vision and values. That doesn’t mean that they don’t get to live and follow their culture, it just means that any acts deemed criminal would not be tolerated in Canada. If committed and they yet to achieve citizenship, they would be deported. If committed when they are a Canadian citizen, they would face the penalty just like the rest of us.
This energy of hate and fear has been used by men of ill intentions throughout history. Remember what hate, fear and ignorance did to our Lord Jesus. When countries were established, war ensued because those “who want it all for themselves” caused it. They used hate and fear to infect people to risk their lives ever since.

We need to get Section 13 back into our charter, and ensure that it is locked in so that no politician of ill intentions could ever repeal it again. Granted there will be those that will scream its against their rights, but I’m going to remind everyone, that no one in Canada ever had the right to make others ill. The only ones that will balk at the implementation of Section 13, are the ones that need to infect people for their own gain.
As for divisiveness, this separation of citizen’s is as a result of those who are mentally conditioned to hate and fear everyone, and are rejected by the citizen’s who will not indulge such an illness. This KKK mentality in Canada does not belong, because the only way the KKK continues to exist is from hate and fear, the two energies that cause wars. So understand, without hate or fear, the KKK would not exist, so they will always have to have something or someone to hate. Do you really want to give up your life to their cause?
If you answered yes to the last question, please accept my right to not let you make me ill.

The bottom 75% of Canadian income earners can't afford an apartment

If you’re hoping to buy a home in one of Canada’s biggest cities, you’re probably out of luck unless you’re making really big bucks.
New data from Zoocasa show you need to be among the country’s top 10 per cent of earners to afford Toronto’s $873,100 benchmark price. Only 2.5 per cent can swing Vancouver’s $1,441,000 price tag.
The study looked at the minimum income required to qualify for a 30 year, 3.75 per cent mortgage with a 20 per cent down payment in 13 pockets across the country. The findings were cross-referenced with income tax filings from Statistics Canada.

Your Ontario Premier in conversation

"to be clear, I have no idea how or who is running this province. I spoke to a man who didn’t seem to have a grasp of the facts, the effects of his cuts, or how hollow his words sound. I wish I had the energy to keep talking. But it’s all so defeating. Maybe next time....."

1/ So it’s midnight and I just got off the phone with Doug Ford.
He gives out his cell number and after a friend of mine got laid off today, I thought I would shoot him a text.

Saturday's Ride - 1929 McCormick Deering 10-20

Good read

The Mueller Report Is 448 Pages Long. You Need to Know These 7 Key Things.

The special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III, produced a report of more than 400 pages that painted a deeply unflattering picture of President Trump but stopped short of accusing him of criminal wrongdoing. Here are seven takeaways.
When Attorney General Jeff Sessions told Mr. Trump that a special counsel had been appointed in May 2017, Mr. Trump grew angry: “I’m fucked,” he said, believing his presidency was ruined. He told Mr. Sessions, “This is the worst thing that ever happened to me.”
Mr. Trump began trying to get rid of Mr. Mueller, only to be thwarted by his staff. In instance after instance, his staff acted as a bulwark against Mr. Trump’s most destructive impulses. In June 2017, the president instructed Donald F. McGahn II, the White House counsel, to remove Mr. Mueller, but Mr. McGahn resisted. Rather than carry out the president’s order, he decided he would rather resign.
Two days later, Mr. Trump asked another trusted adviser, Corey Lewandowski, to tell Mr. Sessions to end the investigation. Mr. Lewandowski did not want to, so he punted to a colleague, Rick Dearborn. He, too, “was uncomfortable with the task and did not follow through.”

Ford government proposes scrapping OHIP's out-of-country medical coverage

The Ford government is proposing to end the Ontario Health Insurance Plan's limited coverage of emergency out-of-country medical costs, a move the Opposition says will hurt snowbirds and frequent travellers.
The province published the proposal on its website on Wednesday and is giving Ontarians until next Tuesday to respond.
The program currently covers out-of-country inpatient services to a maximum of $400 per day for a higher level of care, such as intensive care, as well up to $50 per day for emergency outpatient services, and doctor services.
The government is justifying the plan by saying OHIP covers just five per cent of the cost of a typical medical emergency for Ontarians travelling outside Canada, so purchasing travel insurance is already a necessity. It says the move is part of an effort to address the province's $11.7 billion deficit.
