"Donald Trump, who once claimed to have ended his partnership with Macy’s over the fact that his “shirts and ties were made in China,” is in for a rude awakening as far as his daughter’s own fashion line is concerned. Exclusive photos shared with Gawker confirm that Ivanka Trump, the smokin’ hot apple of her father’s eye, is in fact part of the problem.
"The photograph below was snapped by tipster Mike Twombly at Bloomingdales on 59th St. in New York. Look closely—can you spot the daughter’s betrayal of everything her father stands for?"

Saturday's Ride - Revisit of the Chrysler Carvel Boat Video Series

Today's Rant

Racism in America should have ended with the murder of Martin Luther King. America has had some 58 years to reconcile what they did in their past and to elevate themselves above the culture of slavery instead neo-liberalism has created a whole new group of white, Hispanic and black underclass. Had they elevated rather than oppress America would be great and Donald Trump would be non-existent.

Sad but true: America losing ground to a lack of education

Anti-Intellectualism and the "Dumbing Down" of America

There is a growing and disturbing trend of anti-intellectual elitism in American culture. It’s the dismissal of science, the arts, and humanities and their replacement by entertainment, self-righteousness, ignorance, and deliberate gullibility.
Susan Jacoby, author of The Age of American Unreason, says in an article in theWashington Post, "Dumbness, to paraphrase the late senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan, has been steadily defined downward for several decades, by a combination of heretofore irresistible forces. These include the triumph of video culture over print culture; a disjunction between Americans' rising level of formal education and their shaky grasp of basic geography, science and history; and the fusion of anti-rationalism with anti-intellectualism."
There has been a long tradition of anti-intellectualism in America, unlike most other Western countries. Richard Hofstadter, who won a Pulitzer Prize in 1964 for his book,Anti-Intellectualism In American Life, describes how the vast underlying foundations of anti-elite, anti-reason and anti-science have been infused into America’s political and social fabric. Famous science fiction writer Isaac Asimov once said: "There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge."

Handing power over to the Vice President

I Can't Believe This NYT Article About Trump Is Not A Bigger Story/Scandal

Yesterday, the New York Times reported an indisputable bombshell:  Donald Trump has been offering prospective Vice Presidential nominees the chance to run the entire executive office — domestically and internationally:
One day this past May, Donald Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., reached out to a senior adviser to Gov. John Kasich of Ohio, who left the presidential race just a few weeks before. As a candidate, Kasich declared in March that Trump was “really not prepared to be president of the United States,” and the following month he took the highly unusual step of coordinating with his rival Senator Ted Cruz in an effort to deny Trump the nomination. But according to the Kasich adviser (who spoke only under the condition that he not be named), Donald Jr. wanted to make him an offer nonetheless: Did he have any interest in being the most powerful vice president in history?
When Kasich’s adviser asked how this would be the case, Donald Jr.explained that his father’s vice president would be in charge of domestic and foreign policy.
Then what, the adviser asked, would Trump be in charge of?
“Making America great again” was the casual reply.
Not only is this story sourced from the office of the Governor of Ohio, and former Republican presidential candidate, but it is also consistent with the Trump campaign’s prior, explicit statements as early as May 2016:
Manafort sat down with the Huffington Post’s Howard Fineman for a fairly long interview, and while the two covered quite a bit of ground, there was one exchange in particular that stood out for me.
The vice presidential pick will also be part of the process of proving he’s ready for the White House, Manafort said.
“He needs an experienced person to do the part of the job he doesn’t want to do.  He sees himself more as the chairman of the board, than even the CEO, let alone the COO.

Thursday's Ride - Greg Baum's 1919 Willy's T, Rat Rod

Yes Canada there really are good people in Toronto - From FB

Valerie Taylor
the 5 in the group spoke English. They were trying to get to London to be with family. They came to Canada 4 months ago. A young woman in her early 20's was helping them and she bought their train tickets to be kind. They had 2 baby strollers and 3 other kids and heavy bags so I helped them get to the train but other random strangers picked up strollers and bags to help them up the stairs as well. Once on the train I realized they had gotten some incorrect advice as they were on Lake Shore West and were headed the wrong way. I spoke to the helpful man working on the GO train to find out where they had to go to get a bus to London. It was Aldershot but there was only a via train which cost a lot and they had budgeted for much less. The error was not their fault. So I missed my stop and went with them, planning to buy 7 train tickets because thats what we do in Canada. We help. Every one on the GO train was also helping, calling friends who spoke Arabic and giving me money to help cover their ticket costs. We got to the train station and right before I could pay the fares a lady came running out of the GO kisok yelling stop! Some how the main GO company had heard what was happening and was sending a bus to take the family to London. It was almost overwhelming, the way people wanted to help. It has been one of the most moving experiences. The number of people who on a random hot july Wednesday during rush hour who tried to help a family of strangers who are our newest Canadians. Lots of bad things happening in the world right now and not enough compassion. Compassion is better. A huge thank you to GO Transit and all the random kind people I encountered today. You are why this is an amazing country.

Canada the American Dream

"If you forgot to be born into a wealthy family, you're better off today living in Northern Europe or Canada, where social safety nets and investments in early childhood education have paid big dividends for ordinary citizens. In fact, Canada now has three times the social mobility of the US."

The "American Dream" Moved to Canada

Does your family aspire to the American Dream of a decent paying job, a few weeks of paid vacation, a home of your own, and the hope of retiring before you die?
Maybe try Canada.
Our country has historically prided itself on being a socially mobile society, where hard work is more important than the race or class you're born into. Indeed, during the three decades after World War II, social mobility increased -- particularly for the white working class.
That mobility became part of our self-identity, especially when juxtaposed with the old "caste societies" of Europe and their static class systems. Today, however, that story has been turned on its head.

FOX: NEW EVIDENCE HILLARY KILLED LINCOLN

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—In what may be the most serious allegation ever made against the former Secretary of State, Fox News Channel reported today that Hillary Clinton was involved in the conspiracy to murder President Abraham Lincoln.
The latest charge against Mrs. Clinton was reported by Fox host Sean Hannity, who said that the evidence of her role in the Lincoln assassination came mainly in the form of e-mails.
According to Mr. Hannity, “If it’s true that Hillary Clinton killed Lincoln, this could have a major impact on her chances in 2016.”
The accusation against Mrs. Clinton drew a strong response from Sen. Lindsey Graham (R.—S. Carolina): “There’s been a concerted effort by Hillary Clinton to cover up her role in President Lincoln’s murder. She has said nothing about it. This is bigger than Watergate, the Cuban missile crisis, and the Second World War put together.”

Arriving In Heaven
All arrivals in heaven have to go through an examination to determine if admission will be granted.  One room has a clerk who inputs records of what each applicant did on their last day of life.  The first day’s applicant explains that his last day was not good.
"I came home early and found my wife naked in bed.  She claimed she had just gotten out of the shower.  Well, her hair was dry and the shower was completely dry too.  I knew she was into some hanky-panky and I began to look for her lover.  I went onto the balcony of our 9th floor apartment and found the SOB clinging to the rail by his fingertips.  I was angry and bashed his fingers with a flower pot.  He let go and fell, but his fall was broken by an awning.  Seeing him still alive, I found super human strength to drag our antique cedar chest to the balcony and throw it over.  It hit the man and killed him.  At this point the stress got to me and I suffered a massive heart attack and died."
The clerk thanked him and sent him on to the waiting room.  The second applicant said that his last day was his worst.  "I was on an apartment building roof working on AC equipment.  I stumbled over my tools and toppled off the building.  I managed to grab onto the balcony rail of a 9th floor apartment, but some idiot came rushing out and bashed my hands with a flower pot.  I fell, but landed on an awning and survived.  But, as I looked up, I saw a huge chest falling toward me.  I was hit and killed by the chest."
The clerk couldn't help but chuckle as he directs the man to the waiting room.  He is still giggling when his third customer of the day enters.  The clerk apologizes and says "I doubt that your last day was as interesting as the two fellows that arrived here just before you."
"I don't know" replies the man.  "Picture this, I'm buck naked hiding in this cedar chest...
