"Tough on Crime" is an empty slogan

I have said it many times these Conservatives are all "Talk and no substance" they tell the voter what they think he wants to hear while raising the ire of those who really know what is happening in the real World.

We seem to have a group ministers who, rather than research a subject, write their own fantasies down and create a bill without any thought for the consequences of their actions.

"We want Canadians to know that the Conservatives' 'Tough on Crime' agenda is an empty slogan when it comes to Canada's correctional facilities," said Pierre Mallette, National President of UCCO-SACC-CSN that represents staff in fifty-two federal facilities. "The reality is that our prisons are breeding a different type of criminal, one that belongs to a gang, is more prone to violence and will get less treatment before they are released into the community."

There has to be a balance in the rehabilitation of prisoners, cutting corners and building billion dollar prisons while downloading the short term offenders on the Provinces only degrades the prison system, endangers jail personnel and ultimately the public.

"A manager is only as good as the people he surrounds himself with."

Statistics Canada as well as other well informed individuals have been saying the same thing as the Canadian Correctional Officers.... they can't all be wrong.

So why won't the Conservative -Reform Alliance Party listen?
