Charity begins at home

Who's the liar?

Canada is to pay up to $550 million to cover Michigan's expense on the bridge, which will then allow the state to get up to $2 billion in U.S. federal matching funds.
Once the bridge opens, Michigan is to repay Canada for its portion of the cost with toll collections. Snyder said there will be no cost burden to Michigan taxpayers in building the bridge.

So who is telling the Lie?  Canada to pay 550,000,000 dollars to cover Michigans expense or... the Canadian Government will provide 2.3 billion ??????

The Canadian government will provide $2.3 billion. Private partners are projected to invest $949.1 million. The U.S. General Services Administration will pay the remaining $236.6 million. In the agreement, Michigan and its entities will not be required to pay for the construction of the bridge. A study by The Center for Automotive Research projects that the construction of the bridge will create approximately 6,000 jobs during each of the first two years and 5,100 jobs for each of the last two years of construction in Michigan.

I agree the new bridge is important but originally we were told that Canada would pick up some 900,000,000n dollars of Michigans costs.... now it is 2.3 billion?

Is this off the backs of our unemployed or our seniors, perhaps our federal empolyees are contributing? It must be nice to not have a heart or compassion for your own people as the Conservatives do. I know there are long term benefits to the bridge but.... charity begins at home.

I don't care what the long term recovery of Canada's investment is, I want to know why Candians who are unemployed "NOW" and those to be laid off shortly have to pay the price for Michigan "NOW".

What is Michigans long term investment in Canada?

  1. As you know a P-3 project allows a bankster to borrow money on our behalf and demand that we repay the entire amount, plus the bank interest, plus a further profit margin in perpetuity, for having arranged the loan.

This appears to be another Ontario Highway 407 type of rip off.

    1. Thanks Anonymous - This is a testament to the Conservatives lack of transparency, something that Stephen Harper campaigned on but refuses to implement.

When the Parliamentary Budget Officer, Kevin Page has to get advice from a Constitutional Lawyer and threaten the elected government with court action to obtain the information he requires to do the job Canadians expect of him and the Party Elect, we are headed down the road of a dictatorship.
