Cross Border Shopping

G’Morning Bob  ............  Perhaps you may want to post the following on your blog  ......................................

Yesterday May 14th Ann and I went across the border to Port Huron, Michigan for some shopping and to have lunch – Here’s where  it  get interesting!!

For the last couple of years I have noticed that the difference in gas prices in Michigan vs Ontario remained around One Dollar per gallon  - Here’s what it was yesterday – the price at my neighbourhood Petro Canada was 1.329/Litre or 5.024/ U.S. Gal  -   In Michigan I paid 3.599/ U.S. Gal or 95.2/Litre  making the difference 37.7/Litre or 142.5/U.S. Gal.  -  That makes it 42.5 cents per gal more than the spread for the last couple of years!!

I would say that Canadians have been taking it in the neck for far to long and the spread between the two countries is getting much wider!!

Here are some other noticeable difference in our shopping experience::::::::::::

                                    Butter       -     Paid $ 1.74 per lb.
                                     Milk(Gal.) -             $2.88 per Gal.
                                     Eggs        -               $1.71 per doz.
AND THE BIG ONE : Miller High Life Beer – 54.6 Cents per can (Taxes incl.)

Sooner or later something as got to give   -   Win

(P.S. The above $5.024/U.S. Gal is the equivalent of $5.981/Imperial Gal.  -  I remember the Fina Station on Victoria Blvd. was 39.9 cents per Imp. gal back in 1972  -  I know, I know, that was a long time ago but $5.58 a gallon more now – give me a break!!

Thanks Win...... I agree 100% it is outrageous and it will only get worse

  1. The Canadian public once owned two oil companies.
As propriotors we could have had some influence over the pricing in the market.
Most of us chose to vote for one or the other of the two parties who sold them off.
Bad decisions can lead to bad results. EB.
