The Parable of the Blogger

I am but one man, one voice,

I have roused the serpents,

They raise their venomous heads,

I fear them not for I shall smite them with my words

by Father Bob

All kidding aside it is nice to know that my voice has been heard, for better or for worse.... Diane Finley's ship of fools has been on the site all week..... I get the feeling that they have had to outsource the reading to India since the internet is to complex for them.

What pisses me off more than anything is that Stephen Harper promised us change, a better more open Federal government..... he has failed miserably .... actually he and the party are more secretive, more bitter than any who came before them.

Not one of the members in this government are in touch with real life. They exist at the whim of taxpayers yet know nothing about them or how they live. This "Temporary Immigration Program" is shear stupidity, it was not, nor has it been, well thought out. These people have not paid attention to history or bothered to ask those who will be affected by this program how it should work. They listened to industry, those self serving executives who wanted cheap labour and higher profits off the backs of a desperate people seeking a better life.

The over crowding of immigrants in homes is nothing new but these idiots didn't even bother to look at the historical consequences of bringing slave labour to Canada and what their accommodations would be once they arrived..... actually they didn't care ..... if they intended to handle these people humanely they would have controlled the program better ..... as a government they have the responsibility of ensuring that these people are treated as equals and not stuffed in dog houses.

Quebec Farm labourers being delayed....

About 70 per cent of the 10,000 foreign workers who come to Quebec every year are from Guatemala, according to Vandoorne.

She said in the past the federal government has tried to encourage farmers to hire local workers, but efforts were unsuccessful.

Last spring, Vandoorne said Ottawa stopped dozens of Guatemalans from entering the country. She said the government wanted farmers to hire Quebecers instead.

“It was impossible to find 60 Quebecers who will accept to be paid at minimum wage for maybe sometimes 50 to 70 hours a week,” she said.

This is the life of those desperate for a better life...... 50 to 70 hours slaving in the fields for minimum wage or less ..... businesses are allowed to pay them 15% less than a Canadian worker ... and they are jammed in mobile trailers or like residences..... it happens across the country and is not limited to farm workers...

I'll bet the government gets their piece and so does the agency that organized their entry to Canada .... what is their real take home earnings after everyone takes a piece????

Without a doubt the immigrant farm worker is an essential part of our economy but they must be treated in a humane manner and not forced to work extreme hours to make up the money grabbed by others.

If the Harper "Action Plan" was really working we would not be having this conversation.
