For over a year now I have purchased the 5 dollar Crossword Tripler, I noticed that the second series appeared to have fewer "Tripler" winners but like other players I put it down to bad luck. Really bad luck. Well it seems the OLG has really gotten greedy with this newest series.
Note how the ticket reads "Triple" in the left column. As an avid player of the two previous series and having already purchased this new series and had a "Tripler" win it is understandable that one would expect all tickets with "Tripler" to be winners.
NOT SO says OLG. Since the ticket has been a popular choice of players they decided to stick it to them by leading the regulars to assume they had won.
I wouldn't be bitching if I was the only one to be taken advantage of but the girl at the booth told me that she had had many complaints today.
Had I known in advance I never would have purchased a ticket in the first place.
Here is the setup by OLG. Note where is states on the back "Tripler" , the caveat here is the word "and". In effect they figure that since they have seniors hooked on the ticket that they will sink the hook even deeper. Well not me folks and you can be sure they will feel a loss by me alone not playing along with their car salesman tricks.
It's interesting that we get warnings about "grandparent scams" but none to warn us about the OLG.
I don't care that they will argue that the payouts remain the same and they may well be the same but it is the constant attempt to deceive that annoys me. It might just turn out to be a good thing in the end if it turns people off.
The same applies to their gaming establishments, and one hears the same complaint everywhere one goes, the machines don't payoff like they used to.... and they don't. We go to the casino about once a month, mainly for the buffet, but when you are on the floor there are few, if any, bells going off. You have a choice of machine no matter what your preference is as there are fewer and fewer players.
I just purchased a ticket and was very annoyed to find the same thing. It's the obvious ploys by the OLG to play psychological games with the players. My previous favorite is in number matching games such as Cash In, they will always give numbers that are within one of your 'lucky number'. This tripler scam is the lowest yet!!
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU for posting this!! This recently happened to me and because i send my boyfriend down to check my ticket and he came back with nothing nor the ticket i thought i was ripped off by the teller!! as you i assumed i had won something as previous verision if you scrathced "Triple" you could assume you won at least 15 bucks!! i have looked everywhere on the internet to find something regarding the new series and this is the only post so far! NOT HAPPY..
ReplyDeleteSame here wat if you got a word from both n you scrach the triper.doest it mean you got 3 aords each?
DeleteAlso not too impressed. I had bought a few of these over the years mostly from when i won $5 off a $3 ticket. I was very turned off at the lower amount of win-backs (of even $5) that happened. Today i bought one on a whim, and for the first time ever scratched the triple area first for some reason, and was immediately impressed - every loser i ever had (only maybe ten but still) give the snide "good luck"... I instantly figured i had probably finally saw a win off of one of these things. Sure its our fault for figuring. But if they want to change the rules - make a new game. Don't just 'adjust' the ones people trust, its bogus.
ReplyDeleteI too feel very ripped off by this game. I used to win at least a free ticket now and then, now I never seem to win a thing. Today I have decided I will never play this kind of ticket again. They can find another sucker, it won't be me. Pissed off!
ReplyDeleteI have bought at least 100 triplers in the past two months and the most that I have won was $30! Other than that, I have won a handful of $5-10 prizes and $20 on the bonus once. The odds on this game are hard to believe, and honestly I don't. Total shenanigans.
