Starting week 4 of my recovery from surgery

I must say I have been very fortunate to have had an excellent doctor and a good attitude toward the surgery.

There were more problems than the doctors had anticipated. First they discovered that the pericardium sack had bonded to my heart, likely as a result of my having pericarditis back in 1983. Dr. Semhalago had to peel the pericardium sack from the heart, then they discovered I had hardening of the arteries and that caused them some difficulty in finding arteries for the bypass.

Regardless of the surprises the operating team at Hamilton General did an excellent job.

They wheeled me to my room from ICU and I was able to get out of the bed and walk to the chair in my room and sit for about a half hour before retiring.

Nursing staff was phenomenal and pampered me and the other patients beyond belief and to them I am grateful.

I am amazed at how little pain there was from the surgery and how quickly I noticed physical improvements. I no longer have pain in my throat or in my right arm and then there is the collateral benefits such as my left knee which has improved remarkably and which I can't relate as being surgery related but right for now I'll just play by ear.
