Office of the Prime Minister of Canada...
80 Wellington Street,
Ottawa, Ontario
K1A 0A2
Attn: The Right Honourable Prime Minister of Canada – Stephen Harper
Subject: Pauline Marois and the “Quebec charter of rights and values”
Dear Mr. Harper:
I am a citizen of Canada. I reside in the Province of Quebec, and was born here as well.
I can no longer sit silent and watch as the “government” of my Province strikes out to destroy all reasonable values and attacks all Canadians residing here by unleashing the proposed “Quebec charter of values”.
It is now clear that Madame Pauline Marois, the Premier of the Province of Quebec, has proposed a completely racist, prejudiced law that has made Quebec the laughing stock of the world. This attempt by this Premier is leading Quebec down a path of turmoil, and Madame Marois and her Government are completely ignorant of the real issues facing the people of Quebec: that of health, education, the economy.
It is now time for the Government of Canada to put an end to this ridiculous behavior by this Xenophobic Government. All people of Quebec are Canadians. All people of Quebec are subject to the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, not any Provincial “charter”. All people of Quebec are Governed first by the Government of Canada. Quebec is the responsibility of the Government of Canada, and the time has come for you, Mr. Prime Minister, to stand up and do what is necessary to stop Madame Marois and her Government. Impeach her if necessary for violating Federal laws related to Provinces.
You, Mr. Prime Minister must now act, and act swiftly, to protect the rights of all Canadians in the Province of Quebec. This is not a Provincial issue. This is a Canadian issue since all of Canada will be affected by these racist actions of Madame Marois.
I love living in the Province of Quebec, but I am a citizen of Canada. As a Canadian citizen, I am asking you, and your Government, to step up now, to take the appropriate action to face this demon head on. I have heard that the Federal Government policy may be to “sit back and wait, and if necessary, fight any “law” passed through through the court system”. This is NOT sufficient. You must realize that you MUST fight Madame Marois immediately and with force. Anything less will allow her and her radical Government to gain the upper hand and continue to destroy the economy and other social systems in this Province. Canada will suffer as a whole. It is a Canadian issue.
I expect my Federal Government to protect my rights, and position as a Canadian citizen in Quebec in order that I, and my family, can continue to live here unaffected by these racists without having to make decisions to relocate within my own country.
Respectfully, Mr. Prime Minister, I urge you to act immediately.
Respectfully waiting your decision,
I remain,
William G. Duke, CPA, CGA
