Closing of Greenfield Park Blog

By now most of you are aware that Marty has decided to stop posting on the Greenfield Park blog. I spoke with him on Friday and he was in good spirits and health. As one can expect he was saddened by having closed the blog after all the time that he devoted to maintaining the site.

The site was, in Marty's opinion, your site and therefore as time passed and contributions dwindled he felt it was not serving its intended purpose and he decided to take a rest. Unlike me who writes and posts for my own entertainment, Marty is not that self-indulgent.

We will all miss the Greenfield Park blog, especially me since, thanks to Marty most of my hits came through the Greenfield Park site.

On behalf of all Parkers let me say

It has been a hoot and your devotion is appreciated by all

I have received emails ever since the site shut down and not just from old friends but from new ones who found the site by chance and decide to read it daily.

Here are some thank yous....

Good Morning Marty  ...................  What can be said at a time like this??  -  It's a sad day but understandable -  You sacrificed tons of your time and effort to inform and entertain hundreds of Greenfield Parkers (at home and away) - Mike Rilstone started it but when the ball was fumbled it was you who picked it up and ran for a touchdown and for that we are all extremely  grateful.

Please remember the GFPK mini reunion in Southampton, Ontario this September where we will all have a chance to sit back and reminisce about our good fortune to be raised in the best little town in Canada!! 

Oh - I'll also remind you that I still have a Plaque of Appreciation from the group  which was to be presented to you last year at the 100th anniversary celebrations of our town which unfortunately you couldn't attend!!

Again Marty, I know I speak on behalf of a lot of Greenfield Parkers, who have found old friends because of your efforts, to say a heartfelt THANK YOU for bringing and keeping us connected!!

I also received email from Kerry Charves who as most of you know has been a longtime reader and contributor who said he will miss the site.

Another email was received from Maria Lacaille who found the site and became a daily reader. She too expressed her gratitude and will miss the blog.

After all that,we will all miss you,for me, it will be a big void in my morning routine,waking up & grabbing my iPad to check the blog, to see how early you had been up,sometimes it was 5ish or earlier,to post all our great memories,it's been a slice,luv ya brother,keep in touch.

Did you hear that Marston "Dumped" the Greenfield Park Blog !! ,,,It's gone !!
I Know it was a lot of work for him,,,but Bob H, Normand, John R., And a lot of other people
 contributed to it too,,,there was a wealth of information & pictures there posted by him,,but
Also a lot of others too,,, too bad,, it's a sad day for all of us,, a great connection gone !!
I know a lot of us are in some sort of shock,,, like an old  friend of ours has died !!
