Posting on FB by my cousin, a local Doctor

I grew up in a time when Canada had the highest per capita investments in peace-keeping missions in the world. I was proud of that Canada.
I was proud of a country with a large land mass and few polite people who punched above their weight and tried to make a difference.
I was proud of a country that welcomed immigrants and refugees and celebrated strength in diversity.
I was proud to live in a country that tried to be a quiet role model of peaceful support and caring for the world.
Now, I live in a country where people who choose to come here to live literally are "second class citizens".
Now, I live in a country that does not raise a vigorous defence when one of its journalist citizens is jailed in another country (he is a citizen of the 2nd class)
Now, I live in a country where refugees fleeing war zones are refused on paperwork technicalities instead of welcomed and given safe haven.
Now, I live in a country where the prime minister would rather drop bombs and make fun of people who want to engage in humanitarian aid, instead of giving it.
I won't re-post the photos of the little dead boy on the beach or the interviews with his sobbing father and aunt I saw today that enraged me so much. I don't want to see more or hear more about it.
I want it to change.
This is not my Canada.
October 19: Make the madness end. Seriously.
Just make it stop. This is ridiculous.
