My wife Melanie and I rode this in 1978.It was fun

1978: Here's a rare photo of Colossus!

*This is it, the granddaddy of all roller coasters, the legendary classic ride, Colossus. This gargantuan creature is one of the world’s most enormous wooden roller coasters, taking up over ten acres of land, with more than 4,325 feet of track.

Generations before you have cherished the long haul up this first hill and the great adventure waiting on the other side. Now it’s your turn. Brace yourself to a...ttack the timeless series of six drops and 14 hills, shooting down the track at over 60 miles per hour. Not one, but two of those drops are well over a hundred feet tall!

Your train will take a 180 degree turn at top speed like it’s nothing. But you better hold on tight, as you’re shot up and down over a series of dips and hills hoisting you to the top of the sky.

You’re in for nonstop relentless fun, soaring over an immortal wooden structure whose profile is a classic landmark in the history of amusement parks. No serious rider’s resume is complete without mastering Colossus.

*as described on SFMM website.

I remember Colossus just as you see it here! It was big, fast, very white... and it was pretty scary when I first saw and rode it at 12 years old! I'm thankful I got to share this classic ride with my kids today!

Thanks Kerry.... fond memories of a great love
