This is Dougie

Dougie was a special needs child that came to live with my parents when we lived on Campbell in Greenfield Park around 1958.
Dougie was so malnourished that he had rickets and his legs were so deformed that the prognoses for him to be able to walk was not good but mom would have none of it and insisted that he would walk, as you see here he did.
He never spoke and lived with my parents up until 1967 when they reached an age where they could no longer cope, sadly at that stage in Dougies life and the severity of his disability the only place children's aid could place him was the Douglas Memorial which was the hardest decision my parents ever had to make
