Second I do not believe in ridiculing others because they are different than me.
Stephen Harpers idiotic statement that ISIS and Al Qaeda have declared war on Democracy has raised the hackles on my neck. The "lone wolf" attacks that have been happening here and around the World have absolutely nothing to do with political differences but are rather culturally, idealistically and religiously motivated.
Islam is the fastest growing religion in the World today and appeals to those living in countries where government greed and oppression prevail, such as African nations, countries where people are in search of a better life. There is a sectarian conflict within Islam that is fueling much of the anger toward the Western World and our involvement in their internal conflict.
Our own religious and idealistic beliefs are also fueling the discontent of the Muslim community here at home as we poke and aggravate a community of new Canadians who already feel uncomfortable in their new Country.
This feeling of disenfranchisement is nothing new, it happened to immigrants during and after World War I and II when many were so harassed and ridiculed that they felt obliged to change their surname to something that sounded more North American.
We Canadians, both old and new, have to stop allowing Reformist ideals and rhetoric from influencing our words and actions.
And then there is this..... (But it doesn't serve Harpers fear mongering election plans)
Muslim worker at Paris kosher grocer saved customers from gunman by hiding them in walk-in freezer
A Muslim employee of a kosher grocery store in Paris is being hailed as a hero for hiding several customers in a walk-in freezer to save them from a violent gunman.
Lassana Bathily, 24, led the others into the basement of his workplace, Hyper Cacher, when Amedy Coulibaly opened fire on Friday, according to French media.
The gunman burst into the store just hours before the Jewish Sabbath began and killed four people in what President François Hollande called "a terrifying anti-Semitic act."
“I opened the door, and several people came in with me. I turned off the lights, I turned off the freezer, and they got into the freezer,” Bathily told local station BFMTV. “I told them to calm down, to not make noise. If he knows we’re here, he can come down and kill us.”
