Harper is out of touch with reality

This comment is from a reader who commented on a G & M article about the Anti-terror legislation that Harper announced yesterday. He also said that Jihadists 'declared war'. It's a thoughtful and intelligent response and quite a contrast to Harper's stale view.

"Instead of just reading the mellow dramatic screams of the mainstream press in North America yesterday, I also read a very good BBC article on this French terror event. In it the writer cited some interesting and important statistics. An example was:

"Among the population in France today, 40% of the young adults are unemployed....Disenfranchisement both politically and economically of young French citizens has made it relatively easy for extremist groups to successfully recruit among young French Muslims..."

The 3 French citizens who attacked the office of this satirical publication in Paris yesterday, were all Frenchmen and all under the age of 35....Unacceptable Unemployment and the disenfranchisement that it causes for young citizens appears to be one of the root causes of domestic terrorism like this.

But you won't hear Harper talking about this problem of Unemployment or the disenfranchisement of young citizens here in Canada or anywhere, because he's not interested in addressing those root problems and causes.

Harper continues to harp on giving further extraordinary powers to our police and spy agencies, and making further restrictions of freedom on ordinary peaceful Canadian citizens, using this attack in France as a reason. Harper's thinking is very old, stale, and has been ineffective to tackle modern day problems.

We need a new and brighter leadership in our government here in Canada!

That means Harper has to go... and soon !"
