Spanking Linked to Mental Illness, Says Study

What a pile of Bull$#!T

My parents, who raised in excess of 450 foster children during their lives spanked me and the other kids..... with love. That's right folks, if you love your child you reprimand them with love, if that includes an occasional spanking so be it. The fact is a spanking does NOT constitute abuse nor is it a cause of mental illness.

This article is the same as "repressed memory syndrome", which has found to be a farce created by a group of incompetent psychologists looking for government grants. In my opinion they are quacks just like Dr. Spock who spawned a society of spoiled, hateful criminals with his "spare the rod spoil the child ". Excuse me? We, of the fifties and sixties, felt the wrath of our parents, we survived the smacks with a deep respect for our elders without psychological problems stemming from discipline.

My mom always asserted that kids will push you and push you until you reach a point of frustration and give them a good smack on their bottom..... her reasoning.... they wanted to know they were loved, that you cared what they did. If you spank a child then tell them that you did it because you love them and care about what they do and how they behave, they are smart enough to understand.

There is a clear difference between spanking and beating..... It is too bad psychologists are so incompetent they don't understand the difference.
