Ainsworth (Cripple Creek) BC project photo's circa 1896

The following photographs were taken by Charles H Taylor in 1896. This was a hydraulic air compressor plant that he built to supply the local mining industry. Interestingly he told both the first family (mine) and his second family that the project, after completion, never really operated due to the railway not building a spur line into the mine area. Both families were told that he had to pay back the investors out of his own pocket.... at least he was consistent in his stories.

If you go to the blog site shown in the top right corner you will see an email I received from the Historical Society in the area stating that the plant operated up to 1916..... Hmmmmm

(To explain the confusion between 1st and 2nd family, Charles never divorced my great grandmother, with whom he had 3 children, but went on to marry another woman in 1910 and had a family of 5)
