We cannot forget

The last nine years were a dispiriting place for scientists and environmentalists with the Conservative party’s war on science. The economy was in disarray with the worst economic record since the end of the World War II. Then you throw in the nativism and xenophobia that Harper brought in to Canadian politics, we as a country were in a fairly gloomy situation under Harper. We can’t forget where we came from to get to where we are now as a country. We can’t act like Donald Trump wouldn’t be a viable candidate in Canada. That anti-science and hatred in politics aren’t just an American concept. While Canada is now in a much better place, we cannot forget the last decade under Stephen Harper’s tenure.

Stephen Harper and Canada’s dark age.
