Trip to Cobourg for Canada Day Celebrations

We had a funeral to go to on friday, a dear friend lost her mom, Mona Dickson. Funerals, while sad, are usually a time to celebrate life and the memories one has of a loved one. When Mona's husband Alex passed we took Mona to Atlanta with us to visit friends who are formally from Drummondville for New Years. On the trip Mona had such a wonderful time that she had feelings of guilt for having fun after Alex died. Afterall how could she not, she was with six of the weirdest people one could encounter.... we told her it was OK to have fun, that Alex would not want it any other way.

As life would have it our friends Barb (Mona's daughter) and Tom Brown were neighbors of ours back in '73, they live in Milton just north of us and we have never lost contact with each other. Pat's former school mate Pauline lives in Cobourg with her husband Harry. They too are special friends and a part of our inner circle of misfits.

So on Friday we hopped on the GO train to Ajax, where Mona lived, and Harry and Pauline picked us up and we went to celebrate Mona's passing, after which we spent the weekend with Pauline and Harry.

How Much Can one Family Take

I was calling Tom and Barb ( Monday night) on our return to let them know we were home when Pat saw a comment by their nephew on Faceboock "glad you're OK" which raised alarms.... I tried to reach them but the line died.... after several attempts I went on Pat's FB site and saw that their nephew had posted a picture of their home...... they had a major fire......

In the last few weeks Barb has found out she has breast cancer, her mother has died and now their pride and joy has burned...... and they haven't lost hope
