Hi Folks:
Couple of things to mention. For those of you who have not made your reservation, the Manor Motel is full, the alternate is the Huron Haven Motel, 21 Huron Street, Southampton, Ontario N0H 2L0, toll free # is 1-888-815-3717 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting 1-888-815-3717 end_of_the_skype_highlighting. This motel is about five minute walk from the Manor Motel and is also right in downtown Southampton. I may have included some names on my group list that may not be coming but I thought you would like to see what you will be missing. It isn't too late. Also I am making up a map of the area to point out the areas of interest, where the motels are as well as eating establishments, and where we will be meeting up, along with driving directions from all four corners to Southampton. I have even arranged to have the roads all freshly paved for everyone.
Now for the yummy part, I have the menu offered by the Blind Badger for Saturday night. The restaurant will close to the public from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Saturday September 15th. The Blind Badger is in the style of an english pub and is very cosy, licensed of course. The menu they have come up with is as follows:
Assorted hors d'ouvres consisting of shrimp
goat cheese pesto cups
smoked slamon and pumperknickel
mini bruchetta
This is to be followed by either soup or salad (garden or caesar) including baked bread.
For the main course, you have the choice of one of the following:
Vegetarian curry on rice
Cajun salmon with sweet chili shrimp served with rice and vegetables
1/2 rack of Kansas City style back ribs (with bbq sauce) served with fresh cut fries and vegetables
6-8oz (depending on costs) filet mignon served with bourbon peppercorn sauce, sauteed spinach, seasonal fresh vegetables and roasted mini potatoes
Chicken Cordon bleu served with mushroom white wine cream sauce, fresh vegetables and mashed potatoes.
There is to be no substitutions on starch, whatever that means, and the Badger has asked that they be advised if anyone has an allergy to gluten, shellfish or nuts.
The cost per meal will be $25.00 plus tax, as I mentioned and we hope to preorder the meals to save time and assist in the ordering for the restaurant. So think about what you may like and in mid August I will ask for your choices. Just a point to make with respect to the 6-8 oz filet mignon (cost to be determined), we will be having a steak bar-b-que on Friday night at our place, for those that do not wish steak two nights in a row.
Stay tuned for the next segment.
Heather and Larry Cooper
Thanks Heather
