The Big Lie

I know that the cost of living has been out of control since the end of WWII, there is no argument there.

The causes of the rise are directly related to an increase in demand for housing after the war and the banks changing mortgages in the 1960’s from closed mortgage to open mortgage. That too is a given.

Then there were salary demands which were needed to cover these rising costs forced on the working class   If a rise in cost of living is balanced out by a rise in salary then a rise in cost of living is negated, it is only when those who are not protected by a union or government do the people fall below the poverty line.

Legislation to reduce smog by industry and automobiles including the reduction of particulate pollution by major industry added to manufacturing costs. People have to understand that as the cost of one industry raises so does the next industries cost rise and the next and so on. The reality of business is that when costs rise you pass that cost on to the consumer.

My question here is “How will Andrew Scheer and the CPC lower the cost of living if all these factors are contributing to their rise”

He can’t legislate that corporations stop making a profit, nobody can. He can’t legislate that banks reduce profits and he certainly can’t legislate the central bank lend money at a loss or the government will have to cover that loss. These things are out of his control.

So the only thing I can see that he can do is privatize health care and other services which have been on their agenda since the Harper days. Then there is CPP which Harper already attacked that will become a target of Scheer. Any program that benefits the less fortunate will become a target. They attack the less fortunate because they are unable to defend themselves.

So again, why would anyone believe his pledge to lower the cost of living if it is not in the control of government but rather in the hands of corporations?
