This tactic was on full display in Donald Trump’s response to the events in Charlottesville. “We condemn in the strongest possible terms this egregious display of hatred, bigotry and violence, on many sides. It's been going on for a long time in our country,” said Trump, casually dismissing the neo-Nazi terrorist murder of Heather Heyer as well as the injury of nineteen other anti-racist demonstrators.
