Stephen Harper ignores Toronto for 10 years but suddenly – just months before an election – comes up with $2.6 billion for a plan Toronto council has not approved. I would have preferred Mr. Harper show up with a certified cheque for the money he promised.
Of course, the GTA seats in this election will likely decide which party wins a minority government so I am sure by election time all of the leaders will be promising roads paved with gold.
Ironically, all three main party leaders are promising to “save” or “help” the middle class. What voters must ask themselves is this: Why is the middle class in trouble? Who caused this problem regarding the shrinking middle class?
When you see a federal government ridding itself of workers with pensions, signing free trade deals that obviously take good jobs out of Canada, you wonder why anyone votes for the ruling party.
The ruling parties at all levels of government are the reason The Star printed the excellent articles on precarious employment. Demand our governments keep their promises this time or give us a way to throw them out when they break major promises.
