Everyone, the media included, is concentrating on the popular vote however in America the populare vote only elects congress and senate representatives and NOT the President.
The President is elected by the Electoral College thereby muting the voice opf the people.
Each state nominates 2 people to the Electoral College for each representative, Senator and Congressman, to the college. There are a combined 538 sitting representatives in the Senate and House giving 1078 nominees the responsibility of electing the President of the United States of America.
We saw in the last election the irrelevance of the popular vote what with the red states outnumbering the blue states. It also provides a greater opportunity to convince a majority of the nominees through enticement, intimidation or corruption. Once sworn in the President can then silence any investigation. Once again we have witnessed how that works in America.
At this point I hope I am wrong but after Trumps campaign came out and said they would concentrate on the Electoral College I won't be holding my breath.
