Rise in Midwestern earthquakes probably due to oil and gas production, study suggests

I have had this discussion with friends for years, somewhat heated I might add. For the record I am not a "Dooms Day" advocate. However, my hypothesis has been that you cannot remove liquid from the earth and leave a void. That void will eventually collapse unless you fill it. It is simple logic.

Further to this, if you take a sphere that has small pockets on the interior and fill those pockets with liquid making sure that it is balanced it will rotate evenly. Now slowly empty the sacks in various locations and it will no longer rotate in balance.

It is quite possible that this is what has contributed to due north shifting 2 degrees. Again, just my hypothesis. It is like adding weights to the wheel on your car to balance it, then removing them one at a time.

We have had the global warming discussion for years however the extreme weather and higher intensity tornadoes and hurricanes could also be the result of a shift in due north.
