The ugly conservative

This lawyer with Conservative ties helped out in a big lawsuit against Omar Khadr

A Calgary lawyer with connections to Prime Minister Stephen Harper and the Conservative Party consulted with attorneys in the U.S. about collecting on a multi-million-dollar judgment against Omar Khadr in Canada.
Gerald Chipeur is the former general counsel to the Conservative Party and is considered one of the founding members of the movement that united the Reform Party with the Progressive Conservatives, electing Harper as its first and so far only leader.
He is cited several times in an affidavit filed in Utah in a lawsuit brought by the widow of Sgt. Christopher Speer, the U.S. Special Forces soldier killed by a grenade in a 2002 firefight in Afghanistan.
