Another Minister bites the dust

Was it not John Baird who screamed like a psycho banshee, in committee, that Ministers were responsible for their staff. Yet every time a Minister gets caught they blame it on their underlings.

Well Minister Penashue, true to Conservative form, claims it was the fault of an inexperienced agent that caused him (Penashue) to breach election rules by over spending.

It appears that incompetence is contagious in the Conservative party.

The rash of election overspending and illegal money transfers from the party to individual candidates, for which the Conservatives have already been found guilty of in the "in and out scandal", would appear to be systemic within the party.

It makes one wonder, when watching the corruption inquiry in Quebec, and the subsequent confession of SNC Lavelin that they illegally contributed to the Provincial Liberal and PQ party's, whether there was some untoward activities that occurred between SNC Lavelin and the Conservatives with the sweet deal they received when buying AECL.

The federal government finally announced Wednesday a deal to divest itself of Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd. and get out of the business of subsidizing nuclear reactor sales and servicing.

Joe Oliver, the minister of natural resources, said at a news conference in Toronto that the Crown corporation's Candu reactor business has been sold to engineering giant SNC-Lavalin Group of Montreal, ending a process that has been in the works since 2009.

The sale price was $15 million, but the government will have opportunity to get royalties down the road because it's keeping intellectual property rights, Oliver said. However, the government will also provide SNC up to $75 million to complete development of a new reactor called Enhanced Candu 6.

Smells really bad to me. But really sweet for SNC Lavelin and the Conservatives

"As one of Canada's premier and one of the top international engineering and construction companies, SNC-Lavalin's purchase of AECL signals the beginning of an exciting new era in Canada's nuclear sector," it said.

How do you like this sweet deal now Canada. With SNC Lavelin being under scrutiny by other countries for their clandestine actions and what with Mexico holding an agent of SNC under suspicion of trying to smuggle Mohamar Ghadafi's son into that country it makes one wonder what will eventually happen to SNC Lavelin once all the corrupt activities have been investigated.

These are the people your Conservative government likes to deal with so why should we be shocked when they are accused of election misconduct?
