I am a believer that there is good in all people. This Harper government wants us to believe that immigrants are potential demons and all criminals are evil and there is no hope of rehabilitation. Since they have come to power they have concentrated on crime and immigration and to hell with the economy, the poor and seniors.
As a parent and grandparent of children who have strayed I am well aware that there is hope for change.
Today I had an enlightening and candid conversation with my granddaughter, who at one time had strayed from what you and I call a normal lifestyle. I was taken aback by her honesty and candid conversation about her experiences and how determined and committed she was to helping others. She wants to give back to society. She wants to be a foster parent and to help those who according to the Harper government are not deserving.
I am tired of the Conservatives demonizing everything this country stands for and neglecting or ignoring the real problems of unemployment and those Canadians who have fallen below the poverty line.
In January some 57,000 individuals dropped out of the job market. These were people who were actively seeking work but could not find any. Many, if not all of these people, will end up on the Provincial welfare roll. Again they will not be counted federally. It is sad and depressing to know that Stephen Harper would rather cut services than try to resolve our economic turmoil.
Seriously Canada why are they, the Conservatives, concentrating on crime and immigration when we have unprecedented lines at the food bank?
