Hi Marty/Bob, Thanks for the promo on the Centennial Sports Night and the request for memorabilia for our show. We had a number of responses to the request and received photos, trophies(some going back to the 1930's) team jackets and even an old Royal George Volleyball/basketball jersey, all of which will be part of a permanent show in a special display case which will be built in the Cynthia Coull Arena. The event was reallly well attended (app 200 people) and very well-received according to all reports and comments.By way of some background prior to circa 1954-1955, when the GPAA was founded, most sport in GFPK was primarily organized by those playing on the respective teams into various athletic clubs and consequently we had the Eagles and Meteors and Cardinals in the twenties and thirties and during our era ,the forties and fifties, there were The Maroons,Monarchs,Legion and finally The Warriors. By the time the Warriors closed shop in 1964, The GPAA had expanded its mandate and was essentially running and organizing all of the sports programs in the community which eliminated the need for any of these many independent athletic clubs. In reviewing the list of those who were going to attend the reunion we discovered that there were people who had played on those teams of the 40's and 50's and 60's who would be in town and so we decided to theme the event around them, members of the GFPK Sports Wall of Fame and a few other outstanding athletes who had won national championships. Attached are some photos from the night which highlighted some of the people who made significant contributions to the sports history and heritage of Our Little Town. Again thanks for all your support. JMcC. Many thanks to Normand(aka Bruce field Jr) Simard and Bruce Field for the photos
