Reports coming out on immigration tell two very different stories. Jason Kenney's attack on fraudsters is not showing great results. So to offset and create a distraction Kenney announces the success of his immigration program.
The problem, it is a tale of two truths.
First we are told that immigration figures are peaking in 2012.
http://ca.news.yahoo.com/blogs/canada-politics/2012-immigration-statistics-released-canada-remains-one-most-235820655.html
On the other hand we are told that the "Kenney witch hunt" is not enjoying great success but further to that the figures contradict Kenneys bragging today with only 12 of 3000 having been expelled.
And of the 3,000 alleged fraudsters, only 286 have actually been found by the department and given formal notice that their citizenship is on the line.
Meanwhile, new rules and procedures aimed at strengthening the citizenship process are slowing down existing applications.
The department only has enough money to process about half of the files in the queue this year.
So is the new system working or not? If a backlog is being created .... I would say Not .... if you can't find the fraudsters I would say not.
