Our heartfelt sympathies to the Rhoades family on the passing of Howard
My brother Howard passed away yesterday from health complications. (lung blood clot with heart failure)
So sorry for your loss Ivan
He was 76 , soon to be 77, 14 months older than me.
We had a great time growing up together although we were complete opposite. He reserved and stern and me being a brat.
After his fall in his home a number of years ago it just got worse in the last few years. Spinal fusion for back pain then the loss of his drivers license and last summer fell and broke his pelvis. I saw him last just before our trip to SC and I thought he was looking better after a 6 month rehab.
Hard to say but he is probably better off on the other side
RIP BROTHER
PS the 3 guys in the picture are the last of the Rhoades clan. My son Kevin, me and Howard
America could learn from this but they will ignore the warning
The acclaimed Italian novelist Francesca Melandri, who has been under lockdown in Rome for almost three weeks due to the Covid-19 outbreak, has written a letter to fellow Europeans “from your future”, laying out the range of emotions people are likely to go through over the coming weeks.
I am writing to you from Italy, which means I am writing from your future. We are now where you will be in a few days. The epidemic’s charts show us all entwined in a parallel dance.
We are but a few steps ahead of you in the path of time, just like Wuhan was a few weeks ahead of us. We watch you as you behave just as we did. You hold the same arguments we did until a short time ago, between those who still say “it’s only a flu, why all the fuss?” and those who have already understood.

Nanaimo’s Harmac mill works to fill doubled pulp order for medical masks and gowns
Mill’s president says extra cleaning in place and workers are social distancing
Production is heating up at Harmac Pacific to produce a special paper pulp used in the manufacture of disposable surgical masks, gowns and other medical products.
Those products, worn to help prevent the spread of disease, are in short supply due to the COVID-19 crisis and the U.S. customer that produces them has doubled its order for the K10S pulp.
“It’s a customer out of the States and we’ve been supplying them for years, but in light of what’s going on in the lack of medical supplies, they’ve doubled their order with us in the last week, so we’re doing everything we can to meet that demand,” said Levi Sampson, Harmac president.
