This is why I try to avoid forwarding or posting offensive and bigotted email

There is humour and then there is ignorant humour.

I grew up in a liberal and open family environment, were my parents perfect? Hell no. But at no time were they hurtful and disrespectful to anyone. Dad put women on a pedestal. He taught me to treat women as I would want other men to treat my mother and my sister.

When it came to immigrants or other races both were accepting and respectful, granted dad would make remarks in private but his actions spoke more than his smart ass remarks. Mom, on the other hand, never disrespected anyone whether face to face or in private conversation. I remember a conversation mom had with two prospective adopting parents, she a white woman of German heritage and he a black Canadian, the children they were adopting were of mixed race.

Mom's concern was for the children and as usual she could not help but express her concerns and openly discussed why these two people from differing backgrounds were adopting children of mixed race and if they understood the difficulties they would be facing, after all this was the 1950;s and much of the white world was still in an 1800's mindset

Years ahead of her time mom said "You realize that these children, because they are mixed race, will face discrimination by both the white and black community"? She gave them her voice of approval when they told her their decision to not have children of their own but to adopt children of mixed race was based on the understanding that it would be difficult and the fact that they were a mixed race marriage. They understood the difficulties of placing these two girls in a loving home.

Pennsylvania reels from unbelievably crazy ‘porngate’ email scandal

Pennsylvania is reeling from a mind-bogglingly elaborate political scandal, encompassing offensive emails, corruption and twins.
The scandal has been going on for over a year, but the Washington Postbrought it to national attention in an article on Saturday night. The central player is Pennsylvania’s Democratic attorney general, Kathleen Kane. For months, she has been releasing copies of scandalous emails sent by an astonishingly wide array of people, including judges, prosecutors and defense lawyers and scores of people from Kane’s own office.
The emails are a colorful blend of hardcore pornography and bottom-feeding misogyny, with racism thrown in for good measure. One samplingfeatures Photoshopped naked pictures of Sarah Palin and an image showing a white man seemingly keeping a bucket of fried chicken away from two black men, with the caption “BRAVERY.” Their release has led to the firing of at least six state officials and the resignation of a State Supreme Court justice. Kane has disciplined at least 60 people who work in her department.
