May 2nd, 2011
A day that will likely be remembered as infamous in Canadian political history. Taught by high school teachers and university professors as a case study in how democracy can be abused and even fail.
On that day massive voter suppression efforts were used on the national and riding level to the favour of one party. This party has been found to be guilty of an “in and out” conspiracy to break spending limits. They’ve lost one Minister and one of their chief spokes...people to illegal fundraising/overspending. They’ve been found to have orchestrated a large scale voter suppression effort in Guelph.

And now many of their suppression and voter intimidation tactics are about to be legalized.
The suppression and intimidation that happened on May 2nd, 2011 was extremely well organized, took enormous planning, resources and coordination. It took data, time and most importantly, it took intent. None of it was ‘random’. None of it was by accident. That’s why I consider the Fair Elections Act to be so dangerous.
We’ve seen what they’re willing to do. We’ve seen what they’ve done. And we’ve seen what they are proposing in the Fair Elections Act. To think the changes they are proposing are benign or intended to promote ‘fair’ elections requires a “great leap of deliberate ignorance.”
Whether you’re Green, Orange, or Red, just remember not to vote Blue.
