China bullying South Asia

Jason Kenney has suddenly become the Conservative Minister of Everything Canadian. As the Chinese Government is bullying its neighbors in the South Asia region Minister Kenney is insisting the "Iinvestment Pact" that Harper is about to sign on behalf of Canadians is a good thing.

"One of the key reasons why we finalized the Foreign Investment Protection and Promotion Agreement (FIPPA) after 18 years of negotiations is to provide for a degree of reciprocal protection for investment on both sides," said Kenney, whose reservations about the deal stem, in part, from his concern over human rights.

In the past, he said, Chinese investors would benefit from Canada's legal protection, but Canadians did not enjoy the same protection in China.

"So as far as I'm concerned, the FIPPA gives us a great deal of reciprocity," he said, speaking after an announcement on refugee policy. "Now, Canadians will have some enforceable legal remedies to protect their investments in China. So that speaks to reciprocity."

Who made him an expert first of all and why are far more intelligent Canadians saying this deal is bad for Canada?

To add to the concern the Chinese are flexing their muscle and bullying their neighbors. What makes this Conservative government think that 65 F-35 lead sled aircraft can defend Canada against Chinese aggression or that our 34,000,000 people can stand up against their 1,200,000,000 people?

Not that I believe it will come to that but the financial trouble they will create will be devastating and you can be sure our friends to the South will not stand up and defend us since they are against our actions.

"PetroVietnam vehemently protests the Chinese fishing boats' action against the Binh Minh 2," Pham Viet Dung, the deputy head of exploration at the company, said in a statement on the company's website. "We ask that China educate its citizens to respect Vietnamese waters."
Chinese and Vietnamese Foreign Ministry officials had no immediate comment.

China claims most of the South China Sea, bringing it into conflict with its smaller neighbors. Vietnam, the Philippines, Brunei, Malaysia and Taiwan also claim part of the waters, which are believed to be rich in gas and oil reserves as well as fish stocks. China, which is strengthening its navy, has been increasingly assertive in pressing its claims as its economy as grown in recent years.

They don't respect their neighbors or former allies so how can we trust them? To add to this China Sea situation, the Indian navy has been dispatched to protect their oil interests.
