Panel set to determine the next Supreme Court Justice

Justice Minister Rob Nicholson announced the panel who will select the next Supreme Court Justice to replace retiring Justice Marie Deschamp. The panel will consist of three Conservative MP's and one NDP and one Liberal.

I know it is silly of me to expect a non-partisan decision when selecting a Supreme Court Justice after all, they too are human and have a political bent, but to stack a committee to ensure your political views are represented in the Supreme Court is just wrong. I know it has been done for years but Stephen Harper promised us better government then he stacks the Senate and now the Conservatives will stack the Supreme Court.

Stephen Harper is promising a non-partisan decision on the Northern Gateway pipeline.... really... now stop laughing he really said it......

How can anything be non-partisan with these dictators stacking committees in their favour and their denigrating those that oppose them, even when presented with supported facts the Conservatives create their own truths. A panel is NOT independent when it is stacked with Conservative sympathizers, contributors and industry financiers while naysayers are censored or prohibited from speaking.

My concern with this process is that issues such as abortion will be revisited so that the laws of Canada may be reversed. Stephen Harper promised Canadians that he would not revisit the issue but on the other hand he promised accountability in the House but has failed to deliver. He has however delivered a bitter hate mongering government hell bent on selling Canada's soul to foreign interests.

I feel that a committee should be balanced, say 3 Conservatives, 2 NDP and one Liberal, this would ensure that the parties are forced to work together in the best interest of Canadians. Just as there should be no bias in a Supreme Court Judge there should be no bias in their selection process.

With a balanced committee there would be no ganging up and forcing through a candidate. Yes it is asking a lot from the Conservativers to not be bias but I believe it would be best for Canada and Canadians to be represented equally. The committee would would then select the top 2 or 3 candidates and present them to the Prime Minister who would make the final decision.
