Thursday's Ride - Angry Monkey Motorcycles: 'Old Man', Custom 1958 Triumph T110

Nothing can compare

Our society is doomed..............

IDIOT SIGHTING
I handed the teller @ my bank a withdrawal slip for $400.00
I said "May I have large bills, please".

She looked at me and said "I'm sorry sir, all the bills are the same size."
When I got up off the floor I explained it to her.

When my husband and I arrived at an automobile dealership to pick up our car, we were told the
keys had been locked in it. We went to the service department and found a mechanic working feverishly
to unlock the driver side door. As I watched from the passenger side, I instinctively tried the door handle and discovered that it was unlocked. 'Hey,' I announced to the technician, 'it's open!' His reply: 'I know, I already got that side.
   '
This was at the Ford dealership in Canton , MS

IDIOT SIGHTING

We had to have the garage door repaired.
The Sears repairman told us that one of our problems was that we did not have a 'large' enough motor on the opener.
I thought for a minute, and said that we had the largest one Sears made at that time, a 1/2 horsepower.
He shook his head and said, 'Lady, you need a 1/4 horsepower.' I responded that 1/2 was larger than 1/4.
He said, 'NO, it's not.' Four is larger than two.'
We haven't used Sears repair since.

My daughter and I went through the McDonald's take-out window and I gave the clerk a $5 bill.
Our total was $4.25, so I also handed her a quarter.
She said, 'you gave me too much money.' I said, 'Yes I know, but this way you can just give me a dollar bill back.
She sighed and went to get the manager, who asked me to repeat my request.
I did so, and he handed me back the quarter, and said 'We're sorry but we could not do that kind of thing.'
The clerk then proceeded to give me back $1 and 75 cents in change.
Do not confuse the clerks at McD's.

IDIOT SIGHTING IN FOOD SERVICE

My daughter went to a local Taco Bell and ordered a taco.
She asked the person behind the counter for 'minimal lettuce.'
He said he was sorry, but they only had iceberg lettuce.

I was at the airport, checking in at the gate when an airport employee asked, 'Has anyone put anything in your baggage without your knowledge?'
To which I replied, 'If it was without my knowledge, how would I know?' He smiled knowingly and nodded, 'That's why we ask.'
Happened in Birmingham , Ala.

IDIOT SIGHTING

The stoplight on the corner buzzes when it's safe to cross the street.
I was crossing with an intellectually challenged co-worker of mine. She asked if I knew what the buzzer was for.
I explained that it signals blind people when the light is red.

Appalled, she responded, 'What on earth are blind people doing driving?!'

She was a probation officer in Wichita , KS

IDIOT SIGHTING

At a good-bye luncheon for an old and dear co-worker who was leaving the company due to 'downsizing,' our manager commented cheerfully, 'This is fun. We should do this more often.' Not another word was spoken. We all just looked at each other with that deer-in-the-headlights stare.
This was a lunch at Texas Instruments.

I work with an individual who plugged her power strip back into itself and for the sake of her life, couldn't understand why her system would not turn on.
A deputy with the Dallas County Sheriff’s office, no less.

STAY ALERT!
They walk among us......and they   VOTE, and have babies.
For all of us who are seniors...

The reason why baby diapers have brand names such as Luvs and Huggies, while undergarments for old people are called Depends:
When babies poop in their diapers, people are still gonna Luv'em and Hug'em.
When old people poop in their diapers, the reaction Depends on who's in the will!

The Tables are Turned

I never quite figured out why the sexual urge of men and women differ so much. And I never have figured out the whole Venus and Mars thing. I have never figured out why men think with their head and women with their heart.

FOR EXAMPLE One evening last week, my girlfriend and I were getting into bed. Well, the passion starts to heat up, and she eventually says "I don't feel like it, I just want you to hold me."

I said "WHAT????!!! What was that?!" So she says the words That every boyfriend on the planet dreads to hear..."You're just not in Touch with my emotional needs as a woman enough for me to satisfy your physical needs as a man."

She responded to my puzzled look by saying, "Can't you just Love me for who I am and not what I do for you in the bedroom?" Realizing that nothing was going to happen that night, I went to sleep. The very next day I opted to take the day off of work to spend time with her.

We went out to a nice lunch and then went shopping at a big, big unnamed department store. I walked around with her while she tried on several different very expensive outfits. She couldn't decide which one to take so I told her we'll just buy them all. She wanted new Shoes to compliment her new clothes, so I said lets get a pair for each outfit. We went onto the jewelry department where she picked out a pair of diamond earrings. Let me tell you...she was so excited. She must have thought I was one wave short of a shipwreck. I started to think she was testing me because she asked for a tennis bracelet when she doesn't even know how to play tennis. I think I threw her for a loop when I said, That's fine, honey." She was almost nearing sexual satisfaction from all of the excitement.

Smiling with excited anticipation she finally said, "I think this is all dear, let's go to the cashier." I could hardly contain myself when I blurted out, "No honey, I don't feel like it."

Her face just went completely blank as her jaw dropped with a baffled "WHAT???!!!"

I then said, "Really honey! I just want you to HOLD this stuff for a while. You're just not in touch with my financial needs as a man enough for me to satisfy your shopping needs as a woman." And just when she had this look like she was going to kill me, I added, "Why can't you just love me for who I am and not for the things I buy you?"

Apparently I'm not having sex tonight either.

Thanks Randy

Tuesday's Ride - Gyroplane on Floats, Sweden

A great read and provides interesting answers to BC's housing woes

Study reveals awfulness of Canadian investor immigration; income tax averages C$1,400 per millionaire

British Columbia ends up housing ten times more rich newcomers than Quebec – but Quebec gets ten times more of their ‘investment’ than BC

At last week’s “emergency meeting” on Vancouver housing affordability, local MLA David Eby struck a chord in his opening remarks.
“We have every reason to welcome immigration from China and all over the world; it’s what built British Columbia…but no matter what, extreme wealth should not put you at the front of the line for immigration,” said Eby, of the left-leaning NDP, to long applause.
Many Vancouverites, ethnically Chinese and non-so alike, understand on an instinctive level that selling permanent residency and passports is a Bad Idea. But I doubt many are aware of the precise awfulness of the Immigrant Investor Program (IIP) and the Quebec IIP that have brought tens of thousands of millionaire households to the city for the past 30 years.
In so doing, these schemes have likely driven up real estate prices and unaffordability, research has found.
Yet other resultant economic activity is scant – in fact, investor migrants’ favourite “business” is real estate ownership.
That’s just one finding of a Federal government evaluation of the Chinese-dominated investor schemes, quietly published in October 2014. I can find no reference to the 103-page report in any media; two leading academics who have studied the schemes for years were unware of it before I forwarded it to them this week.
A skinny internal report on immigrant employment earnings, dating from 2012, gave a hint of what many suspected about the investor schemes, whose only real requirement of applicants was a willingness to hand over a pile of cash (latterly, C$800,000) as a five-year loan to Canada. But the latest data is depressingly comprehensive.

Hmmm between Lobbyists and freebies from other country's politics is a great life

Taiwan, Saudi Arabia top destinations for junkets by MPs

Saudi Arabia rivalled Taiwan as the most generous sponsor of free trips for Canada’s MPs last year, according to the sponsored travel report for 2015 compiled by Ethics Commissioner Mary Dawson’s office.
Overall, MPs accepted a lot fewer free trips in 2015 than they usually do. Together, 24 MPs racked up a tab of only $139,580, compared with $442,524 in 2014 and $541,874.
According to the report tabled in the House of Commons, Taiwan was the top destination, with five MPs racking up $43,409 worth of free travel sponsored by the Chinese International Economic Cooperation Association or the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Canada.
Taiwan has long used the lure of free trips to attract the attention of MPs and promote direct ties between Canadian political leaders and Taiwan.
Among the MPs who accepted free trips to Taiwan in 2015 were Conservative MPs John Barlow ($9,014) and David Yurdiga ($8,821), former Conservative MP Nina Grewal ($8,992), as well as former New Democrat MPs Ryan Cleary ($10,529) and Annick Papillon ($6,052).
But while Taiwan’s usual rival when it comes to the top destination for free travel is Israel, last year it was the Saudi Arabian government that came in second place, spending $28,695 to send three Conservative MPs and one of their guests to Riyadh to “discuss political, economic and trade ties between Canada and Saudi Arabia.”
The Saudi Arabian government has been in the spotlight in recent months over a controversial $15 billion deal to purchase armoured vehicles built in Canada. Critics of the deal point to the Saudi government’s human rights record, warning that the vehicles could be used to brutally suppress dissent.
Former Conservative MP Leon Benoit’s $14,133 trip to Riyadh was the most expensive travel accepted by any MP. Former Conservative MP Russ Hiebert, who brought staffer Peter Stock along as a guest, declared $9,874 for the trip. Conservative MP Blaine Calkins listed the value of the trip as $4,687.

Politics ... sigh

Drone de nuit - Montreal at night

Here you go Randy

That’s a lawyer.

What can I say ? ? ?

A father told his three sons when he sent them to the university: "I
feel it's my duty to provide you with the best possible education, and
you do not owe me anything for that.
However, I want you to appreciate it; as a token, please each put
$1,000 into my coffin when I die."

And so it happened. The sons became a doctor, a lawyer, and a
financial planner, each very successful financially.

When they saw their father in the coffin one day, they remembered his wish.

First it was the doctor who put ten $100 bills onto the chest of the deceased.

Then came the financial planner who put a $1,000 bill there.

Finally, it was the heartbroken lawyer's turn. He dipped into his
pocket, took out his checkbook, wrote a check for
$3,000. He put it into his father's coffin, and took the $2,000 cash.

Mick says, "How you doin?"
"Paddy says, "Okay, but do me a favour mate, run upstairs and get me slippers, me feet are freezing."
Mick goes upstairs and sees Paddy's gorgeous 19-year-old twin daughters lying on the bed.

He says, "Your dad's sent me up here to have sex with both of you."
They say, "Get away with ya.... prove it."
Mick shouts downstairs, "Paddy, both of em?"
Paddy shouts back, "Of course both of em, what's the point of fuckin one?"

The Mechanic & the Cardiologist

A Lexus mechanic was removing a cylinder head from the motor of a LS460 when he
spotted a well-known cardiologist in his shop.
The cardiologist was there waiting for the service manager to come and take a
look at his car when the mechanic shouted across the garage, "Hey Doc, want
to take a look at this?"
The cardiologist, a bit surprised, walked over to where the mechanic was
working.
The mechanic straightened up, wiped his hands on a rag and asked,  "So Doc, look
at this engine. I opened it's heart, took the valves out, repaired or replaced
anything damaged, and then put everything back in, and when I finished, it
worked just like new.
So how is it that I make $48,000 a year and you make $1.7M when you and I are
doing basically the same work?
The cardiologist paused, leaned over, and then whispered to the mechanic.......

"Try doing it with the engine running."

Thanks Ivan

Funny - - Senior Love

Ralph and  Edna  were both patients in a mental hospital.

One day while they  were  walking past the hospital swimming  pool,
Ralph  suddenly  jumped  into the deep end.

He  sank to the bottom of the pool and stayed  there.  Edna  promptly
jumped in to save him.  She swam  to the bottom  and  pulled him out.

When the Head Nurse  Director became aware  of  Edna's heroic act she
immediately ordered her to  be discharged  from  the hospital, as she
now considered her to be  mentally stable.

When  she went to tell Edna the news she said, 'Edna,  I have good
news  and bad news.  The good news is you're  being discharged,  since
you were able to rationally respond to a crisis  by jumping  in  and
saving the life of the person you love.  I have concluded  that  your
act displays sound mindedness.

The  bad news is, Ralph hanged himself in the bathroom with his
bathrobe belt right after you saved him.  I am so  sorry, but he's
dead.'

Edna replied, 'He didn't hang himself, I put him there to dry...

How soon can I go home?'

Trumpisms!

During a recent interview, Trump was asked what his favorite Bible verse was.
He said:  “If you give a man a fish, it will feed him for a day but, if you deport him, you’ll never have to feed him again.”

Albino hummingbird...beautiful!

A rare treat...an albino hummingbird. Something that is seldom seen and almost NEVER "photographed…
Fifteen-year-old photographer Marlin Shank  was fortunate enough to capture several images of a rare albino ruby-throated hummingbird while in a park in Staunton , VA.
Very high quality photographs for such a fleeting subject...

How to win the war on drugs

In 1994, John Ehrlichman, the Watergate co-conspirator, unlocked for me one of the great mysteries of modern American history: How did the United States entangle itself in a policy of drug prohibition that has yielded so much misery and so few good results? Americans have been criminalizing psychoactive substances since San Francisco’s anti-opium law of 1875, but it was Ehrlichman’s boss, Richard Nixon, who declared the first “war on drugs” and set the country on the wildly punitive and counterproductive path it still pursues. I’d tracked Ehrlichman, who had been Nixon’s domestic-policy adviser, to an engineering firm in Atlanta, where he was working on minority recruitment. I barely recognized him. He was much heavier than he’d been at the time of the Watergate scandal two decades earlier, and he wore a mountain-man beard that extended to the middle of his chest.

At the time, I was writing a book about the politics of drug prohibition. I started to ask Ehrlichman a series of earnest, wonky questions that he impatiently waved away. “You want to know what this was really all about?” he asked with the bluntness of a man who, after public disgrace and a stretch in federal prison, had little left to protect. “The Nixon campaign in 1968, and the Nixon White House after that, had two enemies: the antiwar left and black people. You understand what I’m saying? We knew we couldn’t make it illegal to be either against the war or black, but by getting the public to associate the hippies with marijuana and blacks with heroin, and then criminalizing both heavily, we could disrupt those communities. We could arrest their leaders, raid their homes, break up their meetings, and vilify them night after night on the evening news. Did we know we were lying about the drugs? Of course we did.”

Descendants of Basile Piche and Pierre Piche - a pieceof French Protestants history in Quebec

Basile Piche, my great great great grandfather, converted to Protestantism in 1850. He and several of his family did missionary work throughout rural Quebec. They built churches and boarding schools where they spread the word of Jesus Christ.

In the early 1900's they and their churches were absorbed into the Baptist, Presbyterian and United Churches.

I remember what a disturbing time it was for my grandmother and grand aunts knowing that their father and mothers grave would be desecrated by the move.

Eglise de Masham

Located at the corner of Wellington Street and River Avenue Bethanie Presbyterian Church in Verdun where many of my relatives and ancestors prayed and where I was baptized. I have many fond memories of my father singing in the choir, playing Santa at Christmas and of the minister collapsing with a heart attack every once in a while. Bethanie later became a United church.

It is sad to see how the church, with its history, has fallen into disrepair.

A special thank you to Ivan R. for going out of his way to take pictures of Bethanie for me.

My grandmother, Jeanne Piche married Arthur Taylor, and together they lived across the street from Bethanie Presbyterian/United Church until they moved to Three Hills, Alberta in 1919.

My birth certificate. As you can see I was born at Women's General Hospital in Montreal which I think was a part of Reddy Memorial Hospital at the time.
